Young Voices United was formed in 1991 and originally began as an after school program, under the direction of its visionary, Nic Starr.  Mr. Starr is a former theatre arts public school educator (middle and high schools respectively), who answered the call to provide an environment for young people to explore their gifts and talents without succumbing to the financial challenges of high end priced performing arts programs.

As a non-profit organization whose vision and purpose is to embrace the challenges of our under-privileged youth, and provide them with an opportunity to develop and nurture life skills through performing arts,  we believe that the focus and intent of our performing arts program is measurable, and that it reaches our target community with a positive outcome.

The school is located in city of Powder Springs, Georgia, and currently has a student base of approximately 30 youth, (elementary, middle and high school) who attend evening and weekend classes of study in theatre arts, different genres of dance, and music (voice, guitar and piano).  The instructors are certified and qualified to teach in their respective disciplines, and the majority of their instructional time is donated, because they believe in what the program has to offer.  The classes as less than moderately priced, in an effort not to exclude any student who has an interest in joining the program.
